Additional Information Regarding This School District:

Rural Racine County is a strong Republican area with a significant amount of support for the nearly 4 billion dollars in education funding cuts by former Governor Scott Walker. Teachers living in Racine County will find many of their neighbors proudly flying Trump flags for months and years after the 2020 elections. Teachers in Racine County should not expect much support from community members, as most of their neighbors vote for anti-education Republican candidates. Racine County is governed by a sheriff who openly urged residents to not comply with the statewide mask wearing directives during the pandemic. As a result, most bars and businesses were filled with people who willingly endangered others' lives by refusing to wear a mask.

Teachers considering a job in any Racine County school district would be much better served by considering employment opportunities just 25 miles south in school districts located in northern Illinois. In comparison to Wisconsin, teachers in northern Illinois earn far higher salaries initially, and have significantly greater career growth potential. Lifetime earnings for a teacher in an Illinois school district located just 50 miles away from Racine County will be at least TRIPLE those of a Wisconsin teacher.  Simply stated, the Illinois teacher will be able to live a middle class life on their salary, while a Wisconsin teacher will likely have to work a 2nd job at the local restaurant or gas station to enjoy the same quality of life.
