Survey Highlights:
The West Allis-West Milwaukee school district is located in the western part of Milwaukee County. Since 2011, this district has aggressively used Act 10 to make significant changes to collectively bargained teacher salaries, benefits, and working conditions. This district holds the dubious distinction of being the WORST district to teach in among all Milwaukee County school districts with the lowest average teacher salary in Milwaukee County.
Many teachers have fled the challenging and often oppressive teaching and working conditions created by the ever-changing West Allis-West Milwaukee adminstration and school board since 2011. This district has literally gutted every part of the collectively bargained teacher contract in the past decade, resulting in literally hundreds of teachers fleeing this school district.
Since 2011, the average teacher salary increased by just $38 over TEN years, well below the nearly $29,000 pay increase awarded to a succession of Superintendents.
Based on the past record of how this school district treated teachers, especially their most highly experienced teachers, since 2011, we urge prospective employees to exercise caution before accepting a teaching position in this school district.
