The majority of residents in this county are  Trump supporters, and spent 2012-2018 Standing With Walker supporting his efforts to screw teachers out of 50 years of improvements to salaries and benefits. Even though Scott Walker is no longer Wisconsin's governor, residents of this county are solid MAGA Trump supporters with minimal support or appreciation for the contributions of strong public schools to the overall success of communities and businesses in their county.

The Appleton school district average teacher salary was 3rd highest in Outagamie County at $61,461. 

The increase in average teacher salary since 2011  was only 3.6%, which was far below the rate of inflation.

This district increased Superintendent pay by 25% during the same period, placing a priority on maintaining the value of the Superintendent's salary during rising inflation. Sadly, the Appleton school board did not extend that same priority to the average teacher salary, meaning that teachers took an effective 20% pay cut during the same period, (in addition to the benefit cuts imposed by the Appleton school board)

It has been our experience that when districts increase the average teacher salaries by such minimal amounts, that the career potential for teachers in this district is essentially a DEAD END job.
