This school district is located in Rock County, adjacent to the Illinois border. Average teacher salaries for in this county range from $54,439 to $61,129. Politically this county is a purple county, leaning Democratic in statewide elections, but due to the gerrymandered electoral maps imposed in 2011 by the Republican Dictatorship that still rules Wisconsin, most of the state legislators elected in this area are anti-public education Republicans.
Public schools and their teachers are under constant attack in this county from rich special interests and individuals that promote voucher schools that benefit from lavish private funding and selective admission policies. Teachers working in this county are under constant attack by the Mainstream media outlets anxious to curry favor (and advertising revenue) from the rich special interests that fund the voucher schools.
The average teacher salary for the Beloit school district is near the top of the salary range, coming in at $61,099 . Since July 2011, the average teacher salary in this school district has only increased by 11.3% which is far below the rate of inflation.
We strongly urge prospective teaching candidates to leave school districts like this for the much higher pay and benefits offered less than 20 miles away in Illinois. Literally, a fresh hire will enjoy a starting salary nearly $10,000 greater by crossing the border, with potential career salary earnings of 5-7 TIMES more than staying in the DEAD END teaching jobs of Wisconsin.
Plus the teacher is not treated by the community as Public Enemy #1 in their daily lives. With so many positive benefits awaiting teachers who flee Wisconsin, we are amazed that Rock County school districts are able to retain any of their top talent.
Not surprisingly, we rate the career potential of this district to be a Dead End job.
April 2024 Referendum Results
Taxpayers REJECTED a $27,000,000 non- recurring operational referendum. Organized opposition to this referendum focused on cutting teacher positions and teacher salaries by at least 20%. Teachers in this district will likely face layoffs, significant workload increases, and a salary freeze for newer teachers with pay cuts for experienced teachers in order for this district to continue operations.
This is the THIRD referendum the voters of Beloit rejected in the past 5 years. Voters say they want MASSIVE teacher layoffs and MASSIVE teacher salary cuts in order for this district to balance it's budget.
With voters essentially rejecting the work of Beloit teachers, we cannot understand how any highly sought Special Education, Math, Science, or CTE teachers remain working in Beloit when they need only drive 20 miles south to Rockford, IL or one of it's suburbs to get a minimum $10,000 immediate raise and earn 2-5 times more over the course of their careers.
Seeing as how Beloit voters have rejected the dedicated teachers in the Beloit school district, time for multitudes of Beloit teachers to return the favor.
