Kenosha County is definitely purple Wisconsin with about 51% voting for Trump and Standing With Walker from 2011 to 2018. Average teacher salaries in this county range from $50,409 to $74,590.
Likely owing to it's proximity to northern Illinois, most districts gave teachers double digit raises in order to stem the exodus of teachers to the much higher paying districts in northeastern Illinois. While not as good as Minnesota, many Wisconsin teachers could see $10,000 pay raises or more by migrating to the higher salaries and better schools located in northern Illinois.
The increase in average teacher salaries for the Brighton school district was 4.6% which was far below the inflation rate. The average teacher salary was one of the lowest in Kenosha County at $53,936.
Despite not having enough money to increase teacher pay, the Brighton school board sure prioritized raises for the Superintendent. The Superintendent's pay increased by 23.8% since 2011, which was nearly FIVE TIMES the average teacher pay increase.
For these reasons, we rated the career potential for teachers in this district as a Dead End job.
In school year 2010-11, the Superintendent position was reported to the DPI as a full time position with a salary of $94,500. In school year 2020-21, the position was reported as a part time position of 185 days, when a full time Superintendent contract is 260 days. For comparison purposes, we extrapolated the 185 day salary to a 260 day full time contract.

Sick of the School Board Lavishing Big Raises on the Superintendent While Screwing Teachers?
Time to Send a Message to the School Board.....
Without a Guarantee of a BIG RAISE for signing your contract for the 2024-25 SY,
Make your School District WAIT until the week of June 12th to return your contract.
All contracts due by Saturday June 15th.
This is one of over 200 Wisconsin school districts have SCREWED teachers (50,000+) since 2011 while giving MASSIVE pay raises to the Superintendent.
Make your District value YOUR RETURN for next year as much as they value the Superintendent.
Unless they offer at least a CPI raise for all teachers,
Hold off on returning your signed contract until June 12-14th.
