Burlington Area

This school district is located in rural Racine County.  This area is a massive MAGA Trumper area, with Trump support at over 80%. Not a ton of love for public education or public school teachers in this MAGA worshipping community

Since 2011, the average teacher salary increased by 20%, which was about half of the inflation rate.

Reflecting the voting patterns of the majority of it's residents, the Burlington community and school district  experienced a significant amount of turmoil in 2020 & 2021 with allegations of racism, and severe community criticism and harassment by AM right wing talk radio of a Burlington teacher for presenting a positive view of black people in her classroom. 

Though Racine county is about evenly split between Democrats and Republicans, voters in the Burlington area support right wing MAGA Republican candidates by about a 85/15 split. 

Rating this district is a tough call. Burlington has one of the highest average teacher salaries in Racine County, though that salary has increased at about half the inflation rate since 2011. 

Considering the political drama teachers in the Burlington area school district must face everyday, we urge extreme caution in deciding whether to pursue or accept a teaching position in Burlington. 

In the past two years, while the greater Burlington community literally drove several young teachers out of their community for daring to present positive views of black citizens in their classrooms, there was a huge outpouring of community love and support for a Burlington High School teacher who traveled to Washington DC to participate in the January 6th "Stop the Steal" rally.
