This school district is located in Rock County, adjacent to the Illinois border. Average teacher salaries for in this county range from $54,439 to $61,129. Politically this county is a purple county, leaning Democratic in statewide elections, but due to the gerrymandered electoral maps imposed in 2011 by the Republican Dictatorship that still rules Wisconsin, most of the state legislators elected in this area are anti-public education Republicans.
Public schools and their teachers are under constant attack in this county from rich special interests and individuals that promote voucher schools that benefit from lavish private funding and selective admission policies. Teachers working in this county are under constant attack by the Mainstream media outlets anxious to curry favor (and advertising revenue) from the rich special interests that fund the voucher schools.
The average teacher salary for the Edgerton school district is near the bottom of the salary range in the area. Probably a lot of teacher turnover here as well. Since July 2011, the average teacher salary in this school district has only increased by 15.6% which is well below the rate of inflation.
Like all the other districts in this county, while average teacher pay was well below inflation, this district prioritized large pay increases for the Superintendent. Since 2011, Superintendent pay increased by 46%.
We strongly urge prospective teaching candidates to leave school districts like this for the much higher pay and benefits offered less than 20 miles away in Illinois. Literally, a fresh hire will enjoy a starting salary nearly $10,000 greater by crossing the border, with potential career salary earnings of 5-7 TIMES more than staying in the DEAD END teaching jobs of Wisconsin. With so many positive benefits awaiting teachers who flee Wisconsin, we are amazed that Rock County school districts are able to retain any of their top talent.
It has been our experience that districts that screw teachers while lavishing huge pay increases on the Superintendent are shitty places to live and teach. Therefore we rate the career potential of this district to be a Dead End job.
