This school district is located in Dodge County, which in one of the most rabid Trump supporting Wisconsin counties. Not surprisingly, public education in this county suffers from a lack of support from the mostly MAGA county residents. Since the MAGA Republican Dictatorship that rules Wisconsin enacted Act 10 in 2011, teachers in every school district in this county have suffered significant salary and benefit cuts imposed by majority MAGA school boards.
Though EVERY district in Majority MAGA Dodge County is a HORRIBLE place to live and teach, this district might be the worst. Definitely one of the worst districts in Wisconsin, and that's saying something. Hustisford has a massive teacher turnover and is always looking for new teachers. Why? Multiple reasons.
Reason #1: Hustisford is a DYING district. The majority MAGA Local Yokels have ZERO support for this district, voting down numerous referendums to fix dilapidated buildings and operational referendums to keep the district solvent. The Hustisford School Board is making plans to dissolve the school district in 2 years. Sadly, this district has had over 2 million dollars of state aid stolen by Wisconsin Republicans to lavish on the largely unaccountable voucher school program. The theft of that money was the driving force behind most of the Operational Referendums that the Local Yokels defeated.
Reason #2: The Hustisford school district average teacher salary was lowest at $52,586. Like every other Dodge County school district, the increase in average teacher salary since 2011 was far below the rate of inflation; for Hustisford it was 10.6%. The Hustisford school board did prioritize keeping the Superintendent happy by increasing the Superintendent pay by 30.3%, essentially the inflation rate.
Reason #3: The MAGA Majority in Hustisford literally HATES the teachers who work here. The public comment time at most School Board meetings is usually dominated by MAGA anti-education lunatics railing against the latest "news" they got from Fox News.
Health insurance is the one bright spot that we could find to encourage a teacher to work in Hustisford. The employee premium share is about 5% or about $1500 for a family plan. Maximum out of pocket + premium share is about $5000. So if one of your children has a severe health issue, your family won't get wiped out.
