Walworth County is filled with MAGA Trump supporters who were Standing With Walker to trash teachers and public education from 2011 to 2018. This county has a few larger districts with good pay with the remainder of school districts being small school districts that often pay so little that many teachers qualify for state and federal anti-poverty programs.
Average teacher salaries in this county range from $48,150 to $67,095.
The Lake Geneva Joint #1 school district has the highest average teacher salary in Walworth County at $67,095. Since 2011, the average teacher salary increased by 31.1%, which was above the inflation rate.
This district is one of the four Walworth County school districts that earn our ranking of Likely a Good Place to Work for having a solid average teacher salary AND increasing it above the inflation rate since 2011.
For a teacher who eschews the far better teaching/career prospects of teaching 25 miles south in a properly funded Illinois school district, and who wants to teach in Wisconsin, accepting a teaching position in the Lake Geneva Joint #1 school district would be a good alternative.
April 2024 Referendum Results
Taxpayers REJECTED a $3,000,000 recurring operational referendum. Organized opposition to this referendum focused on cutting teacher positions and teacher salaries by at least 20%. Teachers in this district will likely face layoffs, significant workload increases, and a salary freeze for newer teachers with pay cuts for experienced teachers in order for this district to continue operations.
