This school district is located in Dane County, which historically has voted around 80% for Democrats and is the fastest growing county in Wisconsin. Buoyed by the city of Madison and the University of Wisconsin, Dane County is one of the most desirable counties in Wisconsin to live in.

The average teacher salaries for Dane County school districts range from $52, 546 to $65, 472 as of the 2022-23 school year. Like every Wisconsin county, some school districts are really great places to work while the school boards in other districts have used Act 10 to make their districts really lousy places to teach.
The Marshall school district is located in rural Dane County. Teachers working here have an average salary of $54,529 which is in the lower range of Dane County salaries. Since July 2011, the increase in average teacher salaries has been 10.3% which is the lowest increase in Dane County and far behind the rate of inflation.
We suspect that this district may be experiencing financial problems, from some combination of the Republican defunding of public schools in Wisconsin, declining enrollment, or aging facilities with high maintenance costs because this is the only Dane County district where the Superintendent pay actually declined by 19.1%
For all of these reasons, we rate the career employment potential for this school district to be a Dead End job.
