This school district is located in Jackson County, where the majority of residents are huge Trump supporters. Not surprisingly, public education in this county suffers from a lack of support from the mostly MAGA county residents.

The Jackson County school district average teacher salary ranges from $51,789 to $54,523.  The Melrose-Mindoro school district had the lowest average teacher salary in Jackson County at $51,789.

The increase in average teacher salary for the Melrose-Mindoro school district was 21% since 2011, which was slightly below  the inflation rate.

The Melrose-Mindoro school board really prioritized giving their Superintendent the highest pay increase in the area with a 49.9% pay raise since 2011. That pay increase was well over DOUBLE the pay increase for the average teacher in this district.

Based on the average teacher salary being the lowest in the county AND the increase in average teacher salary being below to the inflation rate, coupled with the absolutely ROCK STAR pay increase for the Superintendent position, we rate the career potential for teachers in this district as a DEAD END job.

With average salaries well below $50,000 for the past decade, we feel that the career prospects for employment in this district is little more than a Dead End job.  Especially in light of the lavish pay increases awarded to the Superintendent, we feel that this district fits the pattern of many of the worst districts in Wisconsin that give minimal increases to teachers while lavishing huge pay raises to the Superintendent. Districts with a record of salary increases below the rate of inflation offer Dead End jobs and should only be considered as a last resort.

Several additional red flags should cause concern for potential employees. This district is located in Jackson County, which is one of the most extreme Republican voting counties in Wisconsin. Strong majorities of county residents supported the anti-education and anti-teacher policies of Governor Walker and Donald Trump. The majority of voters in this county are firm believers that Donald Trump won the 2020 election, that CRT is being taught in public schools, and that all teachers are indoctrinating their students. This county has one of the lowest Covid19 vaccination rates in Wisconsin, leading to several outbreaks that overwhelmed hospitals and caused patients needing care for cancer and other diseases to not be able to receive the necessary care.

We advise potential employees to be extremely cautious before signing a contract to teach in this county.
