This school district is located in Dane County, which historically has voted around 80% for Democrats and is the fastest growing county in Wisconsin. Buoyed by the city of Madison and the University of Wisconsin, Dane County is one of the most desirable counties in Wisconsin to live in.

Teachers in Dane County school districts earn some of the highest salaries in Wisconsin. Like every Wisconsin county, some school districts are really great places to work while the school boards in other districts have used Act 10 to make their districts really lousy places to teach.

Teachers in the Middleton-Cross Plains school district earn one of the highest average salaries in Dane County. Unfortunately, it has been difficult for teachers in this school district to maintain the value of their salaries as the school board has allowed pay raises that increased the average teacher salary by only 18.8%, which is about half the inflation rate since 2011. 

We think that the school board could have done more to increase teacher salaries in this district since the school board increased the pay for the Superintendent by 65%, which is DOUBLE the inflation rate and TRIPLE the increase in average teacher pay.

It has been our experience that districts that screw teachers while lavishing huge pay increases on the Superintendent are shitty places to live and teach. Therefore, we rated career employment potential for teachers in this district as a Dead End job.
