Kenosha County is definitely purple Wisconsin with about 51% voting for Trump and Standing With Walker from 2011 to 2018. 

Likely owing to it's proximity to northern Illinois, most districts gave teachers double digit  raises in order to stem the exodus of teachers to the much higher paying districts in northeastern Illinois. While not as good as Minnesota, many Wisconsin teachers could see $10,000 pay raises or more by migrating to the higher salaries and better schools located in northern Illinois. 

The increase in average teacher salaries for the Salem school district was 4.2% which was far below the inflation rate. Basically it SUCKS to teach in Salem. 

Despite not having enough money to increase teacher pay, the Salem school board sure prioritized making sure that the Superintendent's salary kept up with inflation, increasing that salary by 28.6%. 

It has been our experience that the shittiest districts to teach in are ones where the teachers are absolutely screwed over by the School Board while the Superintendent (and likely other administrators) have huge raises lavished on them. Salem fits this "pattern" to a "T", which is why we say, "It sucks to teach in Salem". Far better opportunities exist than this backwater MAGA crap hole.

For these reasons, we rated the career potential for teachers in this district as a Dead End job
