FJB signs are more prevalent than the American flag in most areas of Wood County. Woe to anyone, especially a public school teacher, that doesn't openly support Trump or who dares to openly support Biden or any Democratic candidate.
Average teacher pay in this county ranges from $50,226 to $65,279. The Wisconsin Rapids school district average teacher salary was mid-range in Wood County at $59,662. The average teacher salary since 2011 actually DECREASED by 1.4%, causing teacher salaries to fall FAR BEHIND the inflation rate.
When we saw that the average teacher salary actually decreased between July 2011 and the 2022-23 school year, we initially thought that this district, like so many districts across Wisconsin, is experiencing severe financial problems caused by the severe underfunding of public schools by the Republican Dictatorship that rules Wisconsin. Then we looked at the pay increase for the Superintendent.
While screwing teachers over, the Wisconsin Rapids school board had plenty of money to LAVISH on the Superintendent, giving a 57.5% raise since 2011-one of the largest pay increases in Wisconsin. 42 TIMES the increase in average teacher salaries!! Wow...just WOW!!!
Now we see why the Wisconsin Rapids school district is a frequent flyer on WECAN, seemingly always having some teaching vacacies that need to be filled. We rate career employment potential for this district as a DEAD END job.
